    Social security and the 2018 Tax Code Update

    While Social Security beneficiaries are receiving a 2% cost of living increase this year, most people will pay more for Medicare Supplemental Insurance Parts B and D. This panel discussion will review the overall result of the 2018 tax code revision on current wage earners as well as on people receiving benefits.

    Additionally, panelists will discuss taxation and claiming strategies for Social Security benefits for couples, as well as for divorced singles and for people who are widowed. Social Security will be evaluated in the context of overall funding strategies for retirement.

    The event will take place in the War Room of the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art in Novato, located at 500 Palm Drive. A visit to the current exhibits at the Marin Museum of Modern Art follows. Donations of $10 are asked and event proceeds benefit the nonprofit museum.

    Panelists are Tamara Hull, CPA; Georgeana Roussos, attorney and expert in Social Security issues; and Kathleen Nemetz, MBA, CFP, Certified Financial Planner. The event is being hosted by the Women’s Collective of Marin, a nonprofit association hosting public discussions for women, by women.
