The Girl Who Played with Fire

Start Date: Friday 7/9/2010 — End Date: Thursday 7/15/2010

In the highly anticipated sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (already one of the Rafael’s biggest hits), Noomi Rapace returns as the brilliant and complex Lisbeth Salander, whom Roger Ebert called ‘as compelling as any movie character in recent memory.’ Based on the second book in Stieg Larsson’s ‘Millennium’ trilogy, The Girl Who Played with Fire takes up our protagonists a year later and finds investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) preparing to publish an exposé of sex trafficking in Sweden that implicates highly placed members of society. When the story’s researchers are found murdered, the evidence implicates Lisbeth Salander, the ingenious young computer hacker who once saved Blomkvist’s life. Convinced of her innocence, Mikael tries to locate her before the police do, while Lisbeth embarks on a solo investigation and uncovers surprising ties to her own troubled past. In Swedish with English subtitles. Rated R. With Annika Hallin, Per Oscarsson, Lena Endre, Peter Andersson. Writer: Jonas Frykberg, based on the novel by Stieg Larsson. Director: Daniel Alfredson. (Sweden/Denmark 2009) 129 min.
