Sponsored by the Saratoga Historical Foundation, Chapman’s talk is scheduled for Tuesday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Saratoga Foothill Club, 20399 Park Place in Saratoga. Chapman will also be signing all three of her books at the event including her new book as well as “California Apricots: The Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley” and “Historic Bay Area Visionaries.” The author of several books about the Santa Clara Valley, Chapman spent nearly a decade of her career covering Congress and the White House as a reporter for ABC7 news in Washington D.C. Hearts, Leprechauns, and Fools– A Look at Holiday Traditions Start Date: Tuesday 2/14/2023 — End Date: Sunday 6/25/2023 Admission:Free The Saratoga Historical Foundation presents, “Hearts, Leprechauns, and Fools”, a new exhibit explores the impact traditions have on the fabric of the community. The exhibit covers over 30 holidays and associated traditions. The exhibit opens on February 11 and ends In June. Traditions are the stories, beliefs, customs and routines that pass to us from older generations. They have been passed down, in the hope of keeping the tradition alive until the next coming generations. Many traditions originated in Europe and were brought to the US by immigrants. Some have roots in religion. Mother’s Day is a tradition that originated in the US by a woman who wanted mothers to be recognized. The Blossom Festival is a tradition that originated in Saratoga in 1900 celebrating the agricultural heritage. Participating in a tradition creates long lasting memories. The Saratoga History Museum is located at 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road in Saratoga. Admission is free. The Museum is open from 1-4 on Friday, 10-4 on Saturday and 1-4 on Sunday.
