San Francisco Independent Film FestivalSF Start Date: Thursday 2/8/2024 — End Date: Thursday 2/15/2024 Admission:$10-17 This year’s SF IndieFest includes 55 short- and 35 feature-films from 15 countries, with 34 films that are local to the Bay Area.  Mar Novo’s SISTERS, part road trip and part dramedy, tells of three Mexican American sisters reunite to complete their beloved grandmother’s pilgrimage through rural Mexico. SISTERS is the Festival’s Opening Night selection. The filmmaker and cast will attend the screening. How they got there is a mystery, but Mark Bittner forms a bond with the exotic birds through his music and his patient, attentive care. Over time he comes to appreciate their individual identities and makes a case for humans to reevaluate their relationship to animals. When he is forced to leave them, he despairs over the birds’ fate.
